A Statement on Safety, Dignity, & Human Rights
At The Healing and CPTSD Foundation, we stand against systems and actions that create and perpetuate complex trauma. Complex PTSD often develops through prolonged exposure to harmful or traumatic environments — whether interpersonal, systemic, or societal— and these experiences can profoundly impact a person’s ability to cope and feel safe.
Because of this reality, we believe addressing the root drivers of trauma is essential to meaningful prevention, healing, and long-term well-being. The following reflects key areas where we lend our voice, advocacy, and support based on their documented connection to the creation and perpetuation of complex trauma.
We support the following:
-
Bodily autonomy and reproductive rights
-
Protecting children from trauma and abuse.
-
LGBTQIA+ rights and inclusivity
-
Refugee and migrant rights
-
The rights and humane treatment of refugees and migrants
-
Ending poverty and economic inequality
-
Trauma-responsive and human-rights-centered reform of the justice system
-
Disability rights and accessibility
-
Survivors of war and conflict
We oppose the following:
-
Racial injustice, systemic racism, and racial harm
-
Gender-based violence & sexualized trauma
-
Domestic abuse and intimate partner violence
-
Genocide and ethnic cleansing
-
Environmental trauma and climate injustice
-
Religious trauma and spiritual abuse
-
Institutional abuse and neglect
-
Gun violence
Our positions are rooted in trauma research, lived experience, and our commitment to prevention and collective care.
